In the fifth, the Lions scored four runs on two hits and two errors. The bats went a little cold until the fifth inning when the offense showed up big time. He then handed it over to Ethan Earley for the last two as he retired the side in the eighth and the ninth with one strikeout. Sophomore southpaw Jackson Malouf shut down the Gothic Knights in game two, pitching seven scoreless innings while giving up five hits, striking out seven and walking four. The pitching for the Lions in game two was stellar. Freshman Michael Doran singled after the double to score Reeder and give TCNJ the lead. Chris Reeder got the inning going with a single through the right side and Justin Marcario kept it up with a double to right field. Once again, TCNJ scored first in the top of the first. In game two, the Lions took out everything from the game one loss out on NJCU. He gave up no runs on two hits, one strikeout and no walks.Ī Zach Weiner single in the ninth scored Andrew Fernandez, but the Lions could not find a late rally as NJCU took game one. ![]() With two outs in the seventh inning, Matt Santos came in for an inning and a third of relief. NJCU put up another run in the fifth, one in the sixth and five runs in the seventh on a total of nine hits and one error. Unfortunately, the Lions were not able to capitalize with a ground out to third followed by a strikeout. TCNJ had a golden opportunity to potentially retake the lead in the fourth, with runners on second and third with one out. The Gothic Knights took the lead in the bottom half of the third with two runs on two hits and one error. The Lions would not put another run on the scoreboard until the ninth inning as NJCU starting pitcher Dom Yarson went the distance in game one. Goodall got the inning started with a one-out double. The Lions struck first in game one early with a Chris Reeder RBI single to left field that scored Ryan Goodall. JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The TCNJ baseball team worked a split with NJCU on Sunday, losing the first game 9-2 and winning the second 15-0.
